Regional Security Advisor Ukraine

Location: Kyiv or Dnipro, with occasional requirement for travel
Salary: 60-70,000 UAH per month, dependent on experience

Spearfish is a British security consultancy with a worldwide presence for over ten years. Its clients include the NGO, development and humanitarian sectors. Spearfish aims to develop strong relationships with its clients in order to assist them in their provision of duty of care to staff and to help them conduct projects and operations safely. Spearfish has recently started operating in Ukraine in order to provide a portfolio of products, such as capacity building (training), security framework development, bespoke consultancy, procurement, journey management and crisis response. The Security Advisor will be joining Spearfish at a critical and time as it looks to expand its service provision and client base. The role will be exciting and rewarding and will expose the incumbent to the private sector in its provision of support to organisations working for humanitarian relief in Ukraine.
Spearfish Ukraine is looking for a Security Advisor to assist with collating, analysing and presenting security dynamics within Ukraine. They will assist with client-orientated activities, such as the provision of training, consultancy and journey management. The Security Advisor will support clients in Ukraine in their daily operations, ongoing security reviews, audits, and support of personnel. They will remain on standby for local emergency response, to coordinate with client HQ in the UK and Critical Incident Management Team (CIMT). They will work under the Country Manager in Ukraine and will be supported by the senior management team based in the UK. Tasks will include:
Collation and analysis of security-related information from a wide variety of sources for use in Security Risk Assessment
Supporting clients in their daily operations
Maintaining Spearfish’s online products, such as the Risk Map and SRA library
Liaison with local security authorities
Maintaining regular contact with NGOs, development and humanitarian sector organisations
Providing security advice and consultation to clients, including writing Standard Operating Procedures and Hibernation, Relocation and Extraction plans.
Organising and conducting training, including HEAT, First Aid and Driver courses
Providing overwatch for client movements
Standby for emergency response
Providing vehicle escort for client movements where requested
Deputising for the Country Manager
Management of local contractors/ contracts
Ensuring operational documents are stored correctly in the Spearfish data storage system and locally backed up
Submission of monthly timesheets to Spearfish
Other tasks as required
Competencies:
Knowledge of and experience in security risk management
Experience in military, law enforcement or security management industry
Excellent understanding of security dynamics in Ukraine, country-wide
Driving licence
Proficiency in Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc
Professionalism and a client-orientated mindset
Teamwork and initiative
A high degree of organisation
Excellent spoken and written English
Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian
Experience working in the NGO sector would be an asset
